Google Gone Green? September 18, 2007

If Google had a black screen, taking in account the huge number of page views, according to calculations, 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved.
In response, Google created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle, with the exact same functions as the white version, but with lower energy consumption: spread the word-

When Bill Gates and Steve Jobs come together to talk, people want to listen. Watching this, I couldn’t help thinking…these guys can buy several small countries if they wanted to.

Been planning to get a Macbook Pro for a while now. The marketing has gotten to me and Photobooth just looks too damn cool. But when is it the right time to buy one. Well, here’s a neat little site that tells you when it’s a good time. After a new update, I’ll probably wait a month or so for them to get the manufacturing bugs out.

You may have seen the PC vs Mac commercials the Apple have been pushing out on television. Some are pretty funny but having just seen the British version, I must say that their version comes away wittier than the US counterpart.

Happy New Year! Spent majority of the first hours of the new year playing on the Wii. I must say that it’s a pretty fun toy and will give the other systems a run for the money. And if you get it, take it easy early or you’ll be sore the next day like I am.
A nice treat for the new year. A new single from Olivia with an excellent video. I must say that her vocals have matured over the years.
PS3…in hand December 23, 2006

It’s about 48 hours before Christmas and I have a PS3 in my hands. When the PS2 came out, I waited a few hours in the cold to get one on the first day. I could have eBay’ed it and made a profit but I kept it. After Christmas, the PS2s were relatively plentiful and I missed out on a few hundred dollars. This time, the PS3s were more scarce and people have more disposible income so people were doubling or tripling their investment after the release date. But there are more choices this year with the XBox and the Wii so the supply of people who are willing to pay the premium for the PS3 has run out already. You can buy a PS3 on eBay for very close to retail price right now. I was Christmas shopping at Best Buy today after work and saw 15 60G PS3s just sitting there. And I bought one. I didn’t buy it for myself. I bought it for my brother-in-law’s brother-in-law because he wanted one and could use it. I’m tempted to keep it but I barely have the time to do the things I want to do without the added distraction. Also, if I kept it, I’d have to buy a nice TV to use it with. I’ll probably get one of my own eventually but right now I’ll just go over to my sister’s place, if I have the need to play.

With the reach of broadband and better encoding codecs, clear streaming video isn’t much of a problem anymore. This was an Internet eventuality that I foresaw…but I digress. There’s several free sites where you can upload any type of non-pornographic video that you’ve captured on your DVR or filmed yourself to show to the world. Google Video is a good place but You Tube seems to be catching on more quickly. Some really funny stuff that are creating global cult Internet celebrities. For example…
A few weeks ago I went to NYC to see SNL. Not as many people watch now as in the past because of it’s general suckage, but I witnessed the funniest thing to come out of the show in a long time. And because of the Internet, it can be shared.
Lazy Sunday
I don’t know what they’re singing about but I can’t stop occasionally watching this video just for kicks.
Karaoke Madness
What baffles me are these two guys are minor Internet celebrities for acting silly and lipsyncing to crappy songs. Here’s their blog: twochineseboys.blogspot.com

Firefox 1.5 is out. Been having memory problems with Firefox with lots of tabs open lately so I hope the new version helps iron some of those problems out.

I’ve been without a car for a couple weeks. In that time I’ve seen gas price rise 20-30 cents as I pass gas stations while riding the bus. Went car shopping over the weekend. There are so many car options out there. I’d be a fool not to look into hybrids for my next car. What to get…what to get…
