Do you own a cool ironic hipster t-shirt? Well, you don’t have ones as cool as in this video.
I was going to put up the new Rip Slyme video which has to be one of the most interesting single take videos I’ve ever seen but it’s a wee bit gratuitous.

Appleseed Saga Ex Machina, the sequel to the Appleseed film that was released a couple years ago is coming out soon. Check the trailer below. Seems that they are refining the cell shading technique somewhat which made the first one so visually unique.
And if you’re in the DC area, check out the Cherry Blossom Anime Marathon for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. I might check out one of the films which from the trailer, seems interesting to say the least.

I wasn’t going to go this year but I needed a break. So I made the drive up to Bal’more on Saturday. It seems like you pay more and get less every year I go. They ran out of tickets for the concert so I didn’t get to see it. This was my first clue that it wasn’t going to be a good day. Then the guest didn’t show up to run one of the workshops I was interested in and another workshop was just plain lame. There wasn’t anything at the dealer’s room I really wanted to buy. So I watched a few movies and did some people watching. Howl’s Moving Castle was the best film I saw that day and a half naked guy dress as E. Honda from Street Fighter was the scariest thing I saw. I’m probably not going next year as I said last year…but we’ll see.

Here’s a video by Olivia, a Japanese singer I’m pretty fond of. First new work in quite a while but it’s pretty good. The song is is inspired/based on a Japanese manga about female rock musicians. Oddly enough, Olivia was one of the first people on my MySpace page.

I got a new job in Bethesda at a medical technology company called CodeRyte. I’m not going to write about what I think of the company because it’s sort of a faux pas to comment about the place you work at on the Internet. And you can get in trouble if the company finds out that you’re writing about it in the ‘Net and doesn’t approve of the stuff you’re writing.
Bleach July 7, 2005

Got hooked on Bleach over the 4th of July weekend. Several people have mentioned this anime and I thought I’d check it out. It’s very similar to Naruto in several ways (spikey haired protagonist who unexpectedly has powers, rivalry, overcoming odds, colorful supporting cast) but is different in some ways(samurai style instead of ninja, spiritual/religious context) .

One of the biggest anime conventions on the East Coast is held in Baltimore in late summer. I’ve gone for the past several years and just registered. This year they’re capping the people they’re letting in because so many people went last year. Great experience for people watching(people in all sorts of intesting costumes), great Japanese anime/manga art, and usually a great concert.

Things change and sometimes not for the better. My manager moved on to better things but I’m stuck in the same place…for now.
Was elected to the APA Film board. With that, I have added responsibilities. We’ll have to see how that goes. We’re currently recruiting staff to help out.
Naruto was picked up by Cartoon Network (Press release) which will allow it to blow up in this country. But if you need to keep up with the episodes like I do get ‘em here or here.
I’m going to try to update this blog to WordPress 1.5 soon. I’ll either break this and have to start over or it’ll be seamless and you won’t know the difference. I hope for the 2nd option but we’ll see what happens.

Won 3rd place in the pumpkin carving contest at work with a couple of co-workers. I also won the “Guess How Many Caramels Are In The Jar” contest. I won the “Guess How Many Candy Corns Are In The Jar” last year. Instead of a glow-in-the-dark candle, I won some scary plastic cups this year. Woo. Some people at work go a bit overboard on Halloween. Pictures will be posted later.
Stayed home Halloween night and watched Bowling for Columbine finally. Was going to rent Fahrenheit 9/11 too but thought it was too scary, even for Halloween. Got caught up watching a bunch of Samurai Champloo anime this weekend too. And the next Naruto episode should be pretty wicked.
So much candy left over.
